Ties to the past…

Are the ties that bind.

Especially when it’s over.  And long past time to move on.

But you don’t want to!

Unwilling to relinquish your heart to the One who loves you best of all…

Tangle of memories torment.  Coil tightly, constricting.

Bitter waters spray, cursing the one you thought was meant for you.

Only not.

Clouded over, your brighter tomorrows seem gloomy.

Until you open up to seeing with His eyes…

Clear as glass, trusting.

“Not yet,” says selfish Self. One more pound of flesh to extract…

But beyond the veil, He waits. Wonderful plans gathering dust.

And your dreams-come-true, maybe won’t.

Lost in the land of stuck. Quick sand of the heart. Sinking, deeper.

Hurting only yourself…

Yet He has so much more for you.  So much better.

Try to see Truth. Bringing a lasting love.

Joy like no other, pure and God given.

So much better for the waiting. Than for all the grasping in wrong places.

Make believe love, never truly real…

Not Velveteen real.

Not Jesus real.

Nearly maybe, but that doesn’t count. Filling the black hole of the heart for awhile, and it seemed like your fur was getting rubbed off as you longed to become real…

But it was only shadows…

So stiff necked, you wander, thirsty. A journey of 11 days could last 40 years!

Wasted moments that never come back…

Release your grip! And let Him have His way…

Let Him be your One and Only, until your heart is all healed.

And you are strong to stand, holding His hand alone.

And you drip with Grace, flowing like a mountain stream from on high.

Your little light will shine brighter still.

And when real and ready, the one who is meant to be, may very well be …

The color of grace…

Must surely be green.

Like new born buds bursting with life…

And leaves, like love, growing wider with deepening hues.

Grass to tickle our bare toes.

As we bare our hearts to the Son, whose great love warms the shaded places.

And everywhere is heard the echo of His invitation…

Bidding us come alive and sit on the hillside with Him.

New mercies every blessed sunrise.

Like dew, Grace flows from Heaven, gently wrapping us in tender beauty.

His precious gifts to you and me…

And from a grateful heart, we whisper…thank you Lord…

But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD,
whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.
Jeremiah 17:7-8

christianity, God's faithfulness, grace, honey, Jesus, longings end, love, religion, sheila kimball, spirituality, thankfulness, word of God

Waking with the sun.  And the windows open. Listening as a nearby cardinal sings his sweet song.  Thanking God for the man lying by my side.  And a delicious night’s sleep.

Give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for you.
1 Thessalonians 5:18

Yet, sometimes I struggle, preferring to whine fleshly when things seem too hard or dauntingly uncomfortable.

But even in the gray days and foul weather — the routine and the storms of life — there is much to be thankful for.

So on my lunchtime walk with Him, I leave my 9 to 5 in the office. Opening the door to step outside, my heart leaps at His treasures of grace.

A brilliant blue arches overhead and a warming March sun casts soft shadows of budding limbs.

A view of the Highlands and the majestic Hudson River, glisten in springtime splendor.

Children at a nearby school frolic and laugh during recess.

A church steeple, weathered by age and the pounding of storms past, reaches beyond the treetops.

Pointing in the direction of home…

Not the cedar shingled, four bedroom across the river. But my real home.

For I am a sojourner in a dry and weary land. Longing for home with every breath I take, even when I don’t realize it, even when I forget.

That’s why I’m setting my heart still.  With Him in every moment of every day. Seeing Him best when I mind my manners, saying thank you for every good and perfect gift from above.

And the grace of God is in the first tiny butterfly of the season, all pale yellow in silent flitting flight.

Giving thanks always for all things to God the Father
in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ

Ephesians 5:20

Smiling on the exhale for this one magnificent, messy, mundane, and marvelous life He has given.

Grateful for the way He loves me. And for all the love in my life, both old and new.

And to be a tiny part of His grand story. Never ending story full of grace, with giftings large and small.

The magic word will always be thanks.

Gratitude ushers me into the glory of God.  And my heart melts…

There’s so much more than meets my eye when I decide to lift the shade of perceived drudgery, or selfish entitlement, and look wide with eyes of faith.

Endowed with the ability to be all that God created me to be, I dare to dream, take a risk. Risking what I think is life in order to receive life from His hand.

I find myself roused from a stupor – neglectful, blinded hardness.

For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
Romans 1:21

Rubbing eyes open to savor the lush what is in each moment and offer simply, thanks. Changing by intent, recognizing Him, His gifts and all I have.

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1Corinthians 15:57

In the evening cool, a chorus of peepers. Those amazing frogs, harbingers of spring, sing their little hearts out and my own turns a saited smile, and the sun slips below the distant, gentle hills.

Later, lay me down to sleep, cozy snug next to Dearest Husband on one side and a visiting pup on the other.

Last to slumber, surrounded by his strong and her soft, warm. And she rolls on her back, paws in the air, doggy dreams twitching.

Tired, I thank God for all of this, and pray for my nearest and dearest.  Sleep comes slowly, as it does so many other frustrating, fussy nights, but this evening, in this moment, I choose to look to Him and see His hand, a large, masculine mitt, encompassing mine.

A honey of a moment.  All golden.  And so very good.

Hushed. Stilled. Secure.

Peace-filled, eyelids flutter heavy. The glory of this day done holds me close and my heart overflows with His Grace…

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Colossians 3:15-17

Kreativ Blogger award…

christianity, Jesus, Kreativ Blogger Award, longings end, religion, sheila kimball, spirituality

A heartfelt, humble thanks to One Loved American Girl for presenting Longings End with a Kreativ Blogger award.

And that beautiful faith she noted was forged in fires that have purged the deep dark recesses of our hearts.  A faith that is a gift of God, sustaining us through the years and every single new day, both the good and bad. He is our most beautiful, treasured gift. May Longings End continue to serve Him well, inspire others to seek Him, and glorify His name always…

And the “rules” are:

  • Thank the blogger who gave you the award and provide a link to their site.
  • List 7 things about yourself that your readers might find interesting.
  • Nominate 7 other bloggers, provide their links, and let them know.

SEVEN interesting things you probably don’t know:

  1. I love quirky, campy movies and can watch the same one every night for two weeks in a row, though I rarely do. e.g.) Darby O’Gill and the Little People, Loch Ness with Ted Danson and Flipper with a young Elijah Wood.
  2. I can laugh myself silly over that which I find funny, although when I finally stop laughing and share it with Dearest Husband he looks at me quizzically, grinning and shaking his head…
  3. I practically drink my weight in purefied water daily, love green smoothies at breakfast and am passionate about health and wellness.
  4. I love to eat really healthy, but have an undeniable sweet tooth and often placate my cravings with momentary junk food fantasies or longing gazes in the ice cream aisle at the supermarket or bakery (yet rarely cave!), although I will brake for a hit of organic dark chocolate.
  5. I love meeting with my Lord while the morning is still dark, reading the Bible by candlelight with a good cup of Earl Grey tea.
  6. I love to share my testimony in the hopes it might help another – all the pain, loss, fears, hurts – yet even more I love to share about the unwavering goodness and love of God and how Jesus sustains me each and every day.
  7. I married my husband after knowing him for 47 days in a God honoring relationship and would do it again in a heartbeat!!

PS  After more than two decades of walking with the Lord, I am falling in love all over again with Him as I uncover who He really is (regardless of the traditions and doctrines I have been taught in church over the years) through simply reading the gospels…the words and times of my greatest Love, Jesus Christ.

And the envelope, please:

Longings End nominates the following seven sites for the Kreativ Blogger award.  Please take a moment and check out their interesting and inspiring words and visuals…

Lisa Notes…on seeing God – for her down to earth tone while sharing heavenly truths…

A Life Surrendered – for the visual loveliness of her blog as well as its content…

Narrow Paths to Higher Places – for her transparency in writing…

A Country Girl’s Ramblings – for living, laughing and loving in spite of pain…

Backroads Photography by Nava – for the lush, artistic photography…

A Seed Inspired – for her creative kitchen as chapel post…

Did Jesus have a Facebook Page? – for consistently crafting posts promoting Christianity out of the box…

Congratulations to all Kreativ Bloggers!  And again, our thanks to One Loved American Girl for the award.

May we all seek to keep Him ever first in our hearts, our lives and our blogs…
