Just a Dream by enricoagostoni
Yesterday’s post, authored as most of them are these days by my wife, Sheila, stands as a triumph of faith over fear. Sheil’s a good writer, passionate about helping others and very real. Full of quirks of the best sort, too, and I count myself blessed beyond words for the privilege of being her companion through life’s grand adventure as her husband.
As Sheila said, we share the same dream. No doubt, this played a big role in Father’s gift of bringing us together. We met June 2 of last year and married forty-seven days later. Crazy! Absolutely nuts thing to do given all we’ve been through individually over the first fifty years of our lives—save for God’s peace about it in our hearts, lying atop our nervous system like a soothing balm of unquenchable grace, defying logic with something far better.
Love.
His over ours. Ours over me or you. The waking of a dream nearly presumed dead. Mercy beyond our imagination followed by eleven marvelous months of becoming one.
And now, a year later, the Amazing Dream—Part Two!
If you haven’t read Sheila’s post from yesterday go back and read it as Sheila gave form to her dream. Broad brushed of course because it’s a big dream. And as she has shared with you what the dream looks like from her seat I thought I’d do so as well.
I believe that our mutual calling is to share with others the God who loves, listens, liberates, and longs for us to know him. This is to be expressed within the context of every relationship as well as through writing and coaching.
Relationships
Longings End is about community, both in the sense of a physical one where Sheila and I interact with others face-to-face as well as an online community where interaction happens through our blog and social networks. Regardless of the environment, we will always be making new friends and deepening ties with existing ones. Always encouraging. Always building up. Always returning Jesus’ love by loving one another.
Writing
Writing is in our spiritual blood, a gift and passion!
I dream of writing novels. The kind that make a difference in the lives of our readers beyond that of entertainment. Although my writing will continue to include non-fiction in the form of blog posts, essays, and occasional short stories, I cherish the goal of becoming a prolific novelist.
Coaching
We look forward to helping others by direct involvement in their lives through the medium of coaching with a focus on calling and what it means to live out one’s calling to the glory of God. As this includes the general calling on all our lives to live in peace with one another in our relational contexts we want to play a part in the healing of damaged relationships.
My dream of Longings End wouldn’t be complete apart from three additional components.
- Earning. Making enough to take care of Sheila as well as paying off all debt and having something extra to be of help to our children, friends, and others as the Spirit leads.
- Home. Making a new home with Sheila. Our home. A physical expression of Longings End where folks will love to be and literally feel God’s welcome.
- Love. Growing in love: for God, Sheila, family, friends, and the neighbor God brings near.
I echo the invitation Sheila extended in yesterday’s post: Want to join us? We would love to hear about how God is calling you. Or how you lost your life in order to find it. Please consider leaving a comment..
